When I Grow Up...

I used to think that I would be a stage manager, then a theater manager, then I played in the accounting world - quickly realized that I didn't want to do that... then I played around in the executive assistant world...and swiftly realized that Event Planning was what I wanted to do.  It kinda sums up all of those previous worlds that I've played in. Just in a more grown up, "real world job" kinda way.

Through the Social Media class I'm taking, I am finding more focus and direction into honing what it is that I want to do when I grow up - Event Planning.  I have been busy creating various social media outlets as assignments - Professional Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress, LinkedIn - you name it, I've been working on it.  Granted these are all assignments that I'm required to create, and don't get me wrong, the current content is very weak, but it is giving me purpose and direction.  This is a great feeling.  Scary, but great. I finally feel like I'm achieving a forward moving momentum instead of just maintaining status quo.

Keep an eye out for more updates.  Once they are presentable, I'll post the Pro-links I've been working on. In the mean time, you need an event planner? Give me a call ;)

Mashable Assignment... Handwritten Notes are the Best

One of my assignments this week is to visit www.mashable.com, read through the recent blog posts, pick one that interested me, read it and then post in our discussion section about it. Oh, and we couldn't pick one that someone else had already picked.

Naturally, wanting to have the widest selection, I jumped on this like white on rice...(did that make sense? not sure, oh well).  Anyway, this is the post I chose: notes-make-you-smile .

It's a collection of various handwritten notes, to various people, for various reasons. It caught my attention due to my love of the handwritten anything. I have saved almost every handwritten note, letter, quote, limerick or poem that anyone has ever given me.  Personally, the ones from unknown people are the bestest!! (as long as they aren't a death threat or ransom note... but even sometimes ransom notes can be pretty awesome)

Take for instance this one:

I know exactly who this was from and I believe that it may have actually been left for
me at the box office I worked at in college.
There's also this one:

I have NO idea who left this on my car while I was in class, but someone took the time to find
a piece of paper and pencil, write the note and leave it for me to see when I got to my car.

There's nothing wrong with electronic or typed out letters or notes, etc; Handwritten just say so much more to me.  If you ever want to make my day (in a good way, not in a Scarface kinda way) write me a note. :)

Summer School Experiment... oh, and Mark Harmon

You read right, I'm taking summer school.

Well, actually only one class. Social Media Marketing.

Since I am taking this class, I've decided to use my blog as a "Proof that I'm Learning Something" tool and apply each week's lesson to a feature, the content, etc of my personal blog. Hopefully, if there is anyone out there reading this, you'll be able to see a difference by August 1st. If not, well, maybe I'll need to find another hobby.

Here's to a great summer semester!
