Chipping away at that Bucket List

1. Read/Finish 10 books:
 a. You Had me at Woof by Julie Klam (Completed January 15th)
 b. A Man Without a Country by Kurt Vonnegut (Completed March 6th)
c. What-the-Dickens: The Story of a Rogue Tooth Fairy by Gregory Maguire (Completed March 26th) ~ I bought this book a few years ago for myself after buying it for my sisters as Christmas gifts.  At the time, it was probably more "age appropriate" for my youngest sister. Reading it now, I'd give it 2 out of 5 Sprees.

13. Learn 10 new Recipes (new to me)
 * Lemon Chicken Pasta Salad (Yum!)
 * Pan Fried Salmon (Yum Yum!)
 * Home made Mac and Cheese with Egg Noodles
 * White Bean Broccoli Mac and Cheese
 * Beef and Broccoli Rabe with Whole Wheat Penne (I even got rave reviews from my husband on this one! Thanks Clean Eating.)

Bucket List Item: Learn how to Knit a hat.  This is now officially my year-end goal.  I may need some help figuring this one out. Anyone have any tips?

New Look and Feel

I'm trying something new.  You may notice some visual changes over the next few weeks to my blog as I continue to create something I'm happy with.  Bare with me and provide feedback if you have any.   For now, it's play time :)

She's got a bit of a Green Thumb

On St. Patty's Day no less!! A little over a week later it appears that I have a bit of a green thumb. (well, at least when it comes to Catnip and Basil - if you look really close). The Rosemary is taking it's time to make an appearance, but I'm not too worried.

Once the Rosemary comes up, I'll begin my next batch of planters. I'm still thinking Spearmint, Cilantro (for all that summer salsa!) and something else.

With all this crazy weather we're having, I'm hoping to start the outdoor garden next week. I'm hoping to turn the area (pictured below) into a rain garden.

I've been doing a little research but I'm hoping to make a stop at the greenhouse a few miles from our house tomorrow for a little expert advise. I've heard that we have finicky soil in P.Lake so I'm not sure how well this is going to work (without a sprinkler system anyway).

Wish me luck!

#20 - Plant a Indoor Herb Garden

I've officially started my Indoor Herb Garden.

I'm starting with these three first and will plant another three once these sprout. I'm not sure what else I should plant but am considering Green Onions, Cilantro and Spearmint. What have others (You, the reader of this blog) had good luck with?
