New Look and Feel

I'm trying something new.  You may notice some visual changes over the next few weeks to my blog as I continue to create something I'm happy with.  Bare with me and provide feedback if you have any.   For now, it's play time :)

She's got a bit of a Green Thumb

On St. Patty's Day no less!! A little over a week later it appears that I have a bit of a green thumb. (well, at least when it comes to Catnip and Basil - if you look really close). The Rosemary is taking it's time to make an appearance, but I'm not too worried.

Once the Rosemary comes up, I'll begin my next batch of planters. I'm still thinking Spearmint, Cilantro (for all that summer salsa!) and something else.

With all this crazy weather we're having, I'm hoping to start the outdoor garden next week. I'm hoping to turn the area (pictured below) into a rain garden.

I've been doing a little research but I'm hoping to make a stop at the greenhouse a few miles from our house tomorrow for a little expert advise. I've heard that we have finicky soil in P.Lake so I'm not sure how well this is going to work (without a sprinkler system anyway).

Wish me luck!

#20 - Plant a Indoor Herb Garden

I've officially started my Indoor Herb Garden.

I'm starting with these three first and will plant another three once these sprout. I'm not sure what else I should plant but am considering Green Onions, Cilantro and Spearmint. What have others (You, the reader of this blog) had good luck with?

Update on "The List"

Here we are, a month an a half since my last post. I figured that it was about time for me to provide an update on the list:

1. Read/Finish 10 books:
a. You Had me at Woof by Julie Klam (Completed January 15th)

6. Complete Event Management Certificate
* I haven't completed the certificate but I did complete 1 class and started a second :)

13. Learn 10 new recipes. (new to me)
*Lemon Chicken Pasta Salad (Yum!)
* Pan Fried Salmon (Yum Yum!)

24. Organize and Condense all of my burned CDs
* This process has been started. I'm 20 burned CDs in... granted I have about 60 or 70 more, but I believe that 20 is a pretty good dent considering.

Today is a big day

Today, I officially started my first day back at school since 2008. I am going back to finish what I started.

First task: Start and Complete Event Management Certificate (item #6 of 2012 Bucket List).

Wish me luck! :)

p.s. I also finished my first book of the year. I started it in 2011 but read more than 2/3rds in 2012... i'm not counting it against my bucket list, but I'm still pretty proud. ;)
